Freight train operations between India and Bangladesh have resumed through the Radhikapur border in Uttar Dinajpur after a nine-month suspension. On Wednesday afternoon, a 46-wagon freight train departed from Radhikapur station, carrying dust powder used in porcelain plate manufacturing to Biral, Bangladesh. The movement had been halted for nearly a year, affecting trade through this key route.
Before departure, railway and BSF officials conducted a thorough security inspection, ensuring compliance with all government regulations. According to Radhikapur station master Sangeet Dutta, “Long after the suspension, today the train service has resumed.” Officials confirmed that all operational protocols were followed to ensure a smooth transition back to regular freight movement.
The Radhikapur-Biral route is one of the crucial trade corridors between India and Bangladesh. The prolonged suspension had affected the movement of goods, impacting cross-border logistics. With freight services now operational again, businesses dependent on this route are expected to benefit from improved supply chain connectivity between the two countries.
